Getting Started with Smile PreVue: A 10-Minute Setup Guide
Step-by-step guide to setting up Smile PreVue for your dental practice. From sign-up to first simulation in under 10 minutes. No special hardware needed.

You just signed up for Smile PreVue (or you are about to). Here is exactly what to do next. This guide walks through everything from account creation to running your first smile simulation. The entire process takes about 10 minutes.
No special hardware required. No training courses. No IT department. Just your browser and a patient photo.
Step 1: Create Your Account (2 minutes)
Head to app.smileprevue.com/register and sign up with your email address. You will need to provide:
- Your name and email
- Your practice name
- A password
That is it. No credit card required for the 3-day free trial. During the trial, you get full access to all features with 3 AI simulations per day.
After signing up, verify your email address through the confirmation link. You will be taken directly to your dashboard.
Step 2: Set Up Your Practice Profile (2 minutes)
Your practice profile is what patients see when you share simulations via email, text, or PDF. Take a moment to fill it in.
Navigate to your practice settings and add:
- Practice name: This appears on all patient-facing materials.
- Practice logo: Upload your clinic logo. This will appear on co-branded PDF exports.
- Contact information: Your phone number, email, and address. This appears on shared simulations so patients know how to reach you.
The logo and contact info make your shared simulations look professional and on-brand. When a patient receives a simulation via email or text, it comes from your practice, not from a generic software tool.
Step 3: Invite Your Team (1 minute)
If other providers or staff members will be using Smile PreVue, invite them now. Navigate to your team settings and add team members by email.
You can invite up to 5 team members on the Standard plan. Each team member gets their own login, and simulations are tracked per provider. This means each provider builds their own individual portfolio over time.
Team members will receive an email invitation and can set up their accounts in under a minute.
Step 4: Run Your First Simulation (3 minutes)
This is the exciting part. Here is the step-by-step flow for running a smile simulation.
Capture or Upload a Photo
Start a new simulation from your dashboard. You have two options:
- Capture: Use your device's camera (iPad, tablet, or laptop webcam) to take a photo of the patient.
- Upload: Upload an existing photo from your files.
Photo tips for best results:
- The patient should be facing the camera directly with a natural smile.
- Good lighting makes a noticeable difference. Natural light or well-lit operatory lighting works best.
- Avoid extreme angles. A straight-on, eye-level shot produces the most realistic simulation.
- The photo should clearly show the patient's teeth. A closed-mouth photo will not work.
Select Treatment and Shade
Once the photo is uploaded, choose your simulation parameters:
Treatment type (pick one):
- Veneers
- Whitening
- All-on-4
- Smile Makeover
- Orthodontic Alignment
Shade selection: Choose from 20+ VITA shades including the Classical range (A1 through D4) and Bleach shades. These are the same shade references used by dental labs worldwide.
Generate the Preview
Click "Generate" and wait about 30 seconds. The AI processes the photo and creates a photorealistic preview of the patient's smile with the selected treatment and shade applied.
The result appears as a side-by-side before/after comparison. You can toggle between the original photo and the simulation to see the transformation clearly.
Review and Adjust
Take a moment to review the simulation. If you want to try a different shade or treatment type, you can run additional simulations on the same photo. Each variation gives the patient more options to consider.
Step 5: Share the Simulation (2 minutes)
Smile PreVue gives you three ways to share simulations with patients.
SMS/Text Message
Send the before/after preview directly to the patient's phone via text message. This is the fastest sharing method and the one most patients prefer. They can view the simulation on their phone immediately and share it with family members.
Send a more detailed simulation via email. The email includes the before/after comparison, your practice branding, and contact information. This option is good for patients who want a more formal presentation.
Co-Branded PDF
Generate a PDF document with your practice logo, the before/after comparison, treatment details, and contact information. This is the most professional sharing option, ideal for patients who want to bring something tangible to discuss with family.
All sharing methods include your practice branding. The patient sees your logo, your practice name, and your contact information on every shared simulation.
What Happens After the Trial
During your 3-day free trial, you get full access to all features with 3 AI simulations per day. After the trial, you can subscribe to the Standard plan at $149 per provider per month.
The Standard plan includes:
- Unlimited AI simulations (no daily cap)
- All 5 treatment types
- 20+ VITA shades
- SMS, email, and PDF sharing
- Co-branded exports
- Automatic before/after portfolio
- Patient conversion tracking
- In-app HIPAA consent with digital signature
- Up to 5 team members
- Unlimited patient records
- Full audit logging
- Email support
All patient data and simulations from your trial carry over to your paid subscription. Nothing is lost.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Smile PreVue
After helping hundreds of practices get started, here are the patterns we see from the most successful users.
Run simulations during the consultation
The biggest impact comes from showing the simulation while the patient is in the chair. The emotional moment of seeing their future smile is most powerful during the initial consultation. Sharing the simulation after the fact works, but it is not as effective.
Try multiple shades
Patients love options. Run 2 or 3 simulations with different shades on the same photo. Let the patient compare and choose their preference. This creates a collaborative conversation instead of a one-way presentation.
Share immediately
As soon as the patient shows interest, share the simulation via text. Do not wait until after the appointment. While they are excited, put the image on their phone so they can look at it again later and share with family.
Track conversions
When a patient accepts treatment after seeing a simulation, mark them as converted in Smile PreVue. This lets you track your case acceptance rate and see exactly how simulation affects your pipeline.
Upload final results
When a patient completes treatment, upload the final results photo. Smile PreVue sends automatic reminders when cases are nearing their estimated completion date. Your before/after portfolio grows with every completed case, and each entry becomes marketing material for your next patient.
Troubleshooting Common Questions
"The simulation looks different from what I expected." Photo quality has the biggest impact on simulation quality. Make sure the photo is well-lit, straight-on, and clearly shows the patient's teeth. Dark or angled photos produce less accurate results.
"My team member didn't receive the invitation email." Check their spam folder first. If the invitation is not there, resend it from your team settings. Invitations expire after 48 hours, so resend if needed.
"Can I use this on my phone?" Yes. Smile PreVue runs in any modern web browser, including Safari and Chrome on mobile devices. No app download required.
"How do I cancel?" You can cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.
You're Ready
That is it. Account created, profile set up, team invited, first simulation complete. You are ready to start using smile simulation in your cosmetic consultations.
The practices that see the biggest results from Smile PreVue are the ones that use it consistently. Run a simulation during every cosmetic consultation. Build your portfolio with every completed case. Share previews with every interested patient.
The tool works best when it becomes part of your standard workflow, not a special occasion feature.
If you haven't signed up yet, start your free trial now. You will be running your first simulation in less than 10 minutes.
